For Blaine: Dalton bros

David has only been at Dalton for a few weeks now, but already he has heard about the Warblers. So when he hears acapella strains wafting down the hall, his curiosity gets the better of him, and he follows them.

He stays in the doorway, leaning against the frame a little, to watch the group as they sing.

Blaine is a little too pleased when the message comes through.

Sounds good to me. I'll text you what restaurant and we'll meet there?

And David is equally pleased to see the response.

I'm looking forward to it.

Blaine just sent him a little happy face emote then, because he was a little worried about screwing things up by saying something dumb.

The rest of the week took way too long and when Friday was finally there he sent another text to David to have them meet at a restaurant in a nearby town (he still wasn't ready to go back to Breadstix). He obsessed over his clothes and eventually picked out a dark outfit with a bowtie that was purple with gold accents.

Finally he was at the restaurant and looked around the lobby area to see if David had arrived.

David arrived there a few moments later. He'd spent far too much time picking out something to wear, and he'd ended up with khaki trousers and a dark blue shirt. When he saw Blaine, he hesitated a moment, still not certain he was doing the right thing here but pleased all the same.

Blaine smiled when he saw him. "They're getting a table ready now," he explained. "And you look great."

David couldn't help smiling in return. "Cheers," he said. "Sorry I'm late. You do as well, by the way. Look good, I mean."

He was babbling a little, and he blushed, rubbing the back of his neck.

Blaine seemed to find it endearing. "Thank you," he said. The hostess called Blaine's name and he and David were lead to a table. Blaine sat and looked over at David. Once they were alone he seemed to get a little more serious. "So... I feel like we should address something before we go any further... Is this a date or did I embarrassingly misjudge your sexuality, availability and/or interest?"

David laughed, feeling a bit sheepish and rubbing the back of his neck. "No, none of those, I imagine. I...this is a date. Or I thought it was. If you want to back out, now's your chance to play the confusion card."

Blaine looks incredibly relieved. "Oh good," he says. "And no, I don't want to back out. Just, sorry... I mean I haven't really dated a lot. I thought I was going to marry my high school sweetheart and we..." Then he winced a bit. "Oh no, mentioned the ex. That's bad first date form isn't it? Now you're going to think I'm totally crazy."

Clearly Blaine was feeling pretty nervous too.

He laughed again, relaxing a little. "No, it's quite all right. I don't date much myself," he admitted. "I think a little grace might be required on both our parts."

"Deal," Blaine said. "And what do you mean you haven't dated much? You have that whole 'hot teacher' thing going for you."

He blushed, shaking his head. "Ta, though I think you might be the only one to think so."

[mediumdrip]

"I seriously doubt that," Blaine says with a grin. "You have the accent going for you too, like I said the other day. I'm just glad I asked you out first."

"Ah, well, I've only just got to the States, so I've yet to capitalize on that feature," David teased. "I don't think you needed to worry about getting to me too late."

"Are you saying I could have played hard to get for a bit?" Blaine asked, teasing David back.

"Perhaps for a bit," David said with a smile. "Only, I'd likely have given up at some point."

[mediumdrip]

"This is a lot more fun, don't you think?"

[postponing_death]

"Yes, I think it probably is. I'm...glad you asked."

[mediumdrip]

"Good," Blaine said. The waitress appeared and took their orders. After she was gone, he focused on David. "So tell me a little more about yourself."

David shrugged and took a sip of his drink. "What would you like to know?"

"Why did you become a teacher?" Blaine asked after a moment.

"Oh, jumping straight to the hard stuff, I see," David said with a laugh.

"It was...sort of an accident?"

[mediumdrip]

Blaine's brow rose at that. "Okay, now you have to explain."

"Oh, dear," he said. "I'm afraid I might have made it sound more interesting than it is. I just...I had a degree that I didn't know what to do with, and teaching seemed the easiest thing."

"In history right?" Blaine ask, clearly by then he knew what David taught at least. "Why history?"
