For Blaine: Dalton bros

David has only been at Dalton for a few weeks now, but already he has heard about the Warblers. So when he hears acapella strains wafting down the hall, his curiosity gets the better of him, and he follows them.

He stays in the doorway, leaning against the frame a little, to watch the group as they sing.

"You grew up in Ohio, though?"

It doesn't seem quite as exotic to him as it used to, but it's still a very different world.

"That's tight. I spent some time in New York though."

"Is that where you were before you came back to Dalton? What were you doing there?"

[mediumdrip]

"Oh," Blaine said, his face fell a bit. "I was there for a guy. I was going to NYADA too, but mostly it was the guy. We broke up so now I'm back here." It was painful and embarrassing to talk about but he managed to mostly keep it together.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," David said, touching his shoulder lightly as he moved to find them a table.

Blaine felt an odd thrill through his body at David's touch. "It happens," he with forced casualness.

"Yes, I suppose so," David said, a little awkwardly, sliding into a seat. "How do you find coming back to Ohio after New York?"

"Hmm," Blaine thought about that a second. "Well, it's comforting to have Dalton to come back too."

"You don't find it...limited?" David asked, tilting his head thoughtfully.

"I find it... calming. Why? Do you find it limited?"

[postponing_death]

He thought a moment. "No, not really. It's something of an adventure for me. I just know...when I went back to Sheffield it did feel very limited."

"Did you enjoy Sheffield while you were going up?"

[postponing_death]

He laughed softly. "No, not at all."

[mediumdrip]

"That might be the difference," Blaine pointed out. Then, after a moment, a signal bell went through the school and Blaine glanced up at the clock on the wall of the cafe. "I should probably get going," he said. Then he dug into his bag. "You and I should do this again. Only this time at dinner." He took out some paper and wrote his number down. "Are you free this weekend?"

David stood as well when the bell sounded. "Oh," he said, a bit surprised by the offer. He debated with himself a moment on how to answer. Blaine was so young, yet technically he was a colleague.

After a bit of hesitation, he answered, "I am, yes. Shall I give you a ring? Or text perhaps?"

"Either works for me, we can work out the details then." He gave David a charming smile. "Nice meeting you," he said before moving to part ways.

"Yes, you as well," David mumbled, watching him go. He smiled to himself all the way back to his classroom.

Throughout the rest of the day, Blaine found himself checking his phone over and over, hoping that David would keep his word and contact him.

David still had classes to attend to, but when he was on his prep period, he did pull out his phone, pondering for a long moment if he should text. Or perhaps call, though texting was less stressful. He tried to tell himself Blaine didn't mean it as a date, but all signs pointed to date, and...he didn't mind the idea.

Eventually, he sent a quick text: 7:30 on Friday all right?

And then another: This is David, by the way.

Blaine is a little too pleased when the message comes through.

Sounds good to me. I'll text you what restaurant and we'll meet there?

And David is equally pleased to see the response.

I'm looking forward to it.

Blaine just sent him a little happy face emote then, because he was a little worried about screwing things up by saying something dumb.

The rest of the week took way too long and when Friday was finally there he sent another text to David to have them meet at a restaurant in a nearby town (he still wasn't ready to go back to Breadstix). He obsessed over his clothes and eventually picked out a dark outfit with a bowtie that was purple with gold accents.

Finally he was at the restaurant and looked around the lobby area to see if David had arrived.

David arrived there a few moments later. He'd spent far too much time picking out something to wear, and he'd ended up with khaki trousers and a dark blue shirt. When he saw Blaine, he hesitated a moment, still not certain he was doing the right thing here but pleased all the same.

Blaine smiled when he saw him. "They're getting a table ready now," he explained. "And you look great."

David couldn't help smiling in return. "Cheers," he said. "Sorry I'm late. You do as well, by the way. Look good, I mean."

He was babbling a little, and he blushed, rubbing the back of his neck.
